St. Anna Center for Disabled Children and Adolescents
About the Center
With the support of the Social Investment Fund, the Lale Foundation and other donors, the Foundation built and equipped the St. Anna Daily Center for Disabled Children and Adolescents in block 4 of the Mladost settlement. The daily center is supplied with an access ramp for disabled people and an elevator providing access to all levels of the facility. The architectural plan of the building complies with all requirements for access for disabled people. The facility is equipped with a living-room, two rooms for group therapy, two rooms for rehabilitation, a room for speech therapy, a psychologist’s office, a room for Montessori therapy, rooms for individual work, a computer hall, rooms for relaxation, a dining-room with a kitchen, bathrooms for the children on each floor, bathrooms for the staff, a conference hall, a room for staff training and meetings with parents, a room for the staff and a new room equipped in 2010 as a multisensory hall. All rooms and halls are adequately furnished.
Activity
The center was launched on the 1 July 2007 as a state-delegated activity and accommodates, educates /according to the general curriculum and according to the curriculum of the school for mentally retarded children/ and rehabilitates 25 children with various mental disorders.
On the 19 December 2008 with funds granted by the Municipality Council of the city of Plovdiv, the only playground for disabled children in the city was opened.
