We launched the first big initiative for raising funds for this program on the 1 June 1997 in front of the National Palace of Culture. With the support of donors from Bulgaria and abroad, we managed to raise money for medicines and consumables, for training of our specialists abroad and for the participation of foreign specialists in the first marrow transplantations, and we equipped the transplantation sector of the hospital with a new biochemical installation. We also provided funds for the replacement of the joinery in the hospital and we donated the ambulance granted to us in favour of the team of prof. Dragan Bobev.
For several subsequent years on the day of the Annunciation with the support of Macdonald’s we raised funds for the construction of a Hostel for the parents of the sick children in the yard of the hospital. We also built a park and a playground, which is the favourite place for emotional and physical relaxation for the children and their parents.
