The project “Code: Border Abolished” was implemented by the Ruse branch of the Future for Bulgaria Foundation and the Youth Association Ion Vinea – Giugriu, Romania, with the financial support of the PHARE program “Trans-border Cooperation Between Bulgaria and Romania 2001” of the EU and had the purpose of forming the sense of belonging to the common border region and creating premises for the development of the region in terms of cultural exchange and tourism among 40 young people at the age between 14 and 18 years and the local institutions (Municipality Children’s Center for Culture and Art – Ruse and Cultural Center Ion Vinea in Giurgiu).

The activities under the project were of informative and exploratory nature and referred to the common customs of the two countries, the cultural and historical sites, folklore, language courses and exchange of visits. The young people developed a short entertaining study tool of the type “from young people to young people”, which presents main elements of the customs and daily life of the border region in an amusing way. An advertising tourist package common for the region containing information about the cultural and historical heritage of the region, pictures, a map and useful information for the tourists was also created and distributed.
